About The Role

We’re recruiting for a Temporary Works Design Manager to join our Calvert area of works based near Buckingham.

This role will require you to lead the production of Temporary Works Designs, for the Calvert Area, in collaboration with the relevant TWCs and Area Temporary Works Manager. We would need you to manage internal and external design teams including those from sub-contractors.

We need you to ensure that temporary works designs are adequate and safely designed for construction, use, dismantling and that they are developed and delivered in accordance with the JV Temporary Works Procedure, in a timely manner. You'll be responsible for management and quality assurance of internal and external TW design process from requirement (Design Brief) through to delivery (Construction).

We need to ensure the Temporary Works Procedure is applied fully and efficiently. The role will require you to also manage the technical assurance (TA) of all temporary works design. We would expect you to develop positive working relationships with internal and external client teams.

It is essential that you carry out TW design review and formal design checking (including checks on supply chain proposals). We must ensure preparation and review of Design Risk Assessments including the development of appropriate design mitigation and communication with others in the construction process.

It's also essential that ensure that TW designs are suitably categorised with respect risk and check category, in consultation with the TWCs. Ensure that a design brief has been established with full consultation is adequate and is in accordance with the actual situation on site, and ensuring all construction loads are considered.

You'll liaise with permanent works designers to resolve issues of construction method and buildability as necessary. and you must ensure that designs are checked in accordance with their brief.

About You

  • Relevant technical qualification, degree in Civil Engineering, BTEC, HND or HNC
  • Extensive Temporary Works Coordinator experience
  • Temporary Works Design experience and an understanding of the requirements of a Temporary Works Designer
  • Extensive knowledge of BS 5975
  • CSCS Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course
  • IT skills –O365
  • Possession of good organisational and communication skills
  • Experience in major civil engineering works
